Regular cleans or one-off visits
Most of our customers book us on a regular round. Some want a clean every month, others prefer every other month. We'll work with whatever suits you. If you'd rather just call us when you need us, that's fine too — one-offs are welcome, with a small premium for the extra dirt build-up.
Regular customers get priority booking, and repeat cleans tend to be a bit quicker because the glass stays on top of things between visits. You also get a friendly reminder the evening before your clean is due.
You don't need to be home
Our window cleaning is exterior, so you don't need to be in. We'll get on with it and let you know when we're done.
We clean frames and sills as part of every visit. Some companies charge extra for that — we think it's part of the job.
What about rain?
What is the first thing you check when you get the reminder text that your window cleaner is due tomorrow??
Come on own up, who checks the weather forecast first??
It's a common misconception that cleaning windows in the rain is indeed a waste of time. Back in the black and white (tv) days when window cleaners used traditional methods, they was armed with a mop and a squeegee, they used chemicals and soaps to clean the glass, this method left a film of soap residue on the glass so when it rained the soap would run and leave streaks all down the glass.
This is no longer the case due to working with the water fed pole system, cleaning with pure water not only leaves your windows spotless but also doesn't leave a film of soap behind, therefore there is nothing to run and cause streaking during or after the rain.
Pure water vs Wood
Pure water, while free of contaminants, can still leave stains or marks on painted wooden doors due to interactions with the paint or wood surface. Here's why:
- Surface Tension and Residue: Pure water has high surface tension, causing it to bead up rather than spread evenly. When it evaporates, it can leave behind faint outlines where the water droplets sat, especially if the paint is glossy or semi-glossy. These marks are often more visible on smooth surfaces.
- Paint Type and Finish: Some paints, especially water-based ones like latex or acrylic, can soften slightly when exposed to water for extended periods. Pure water may penetrate microscopic imperfections in the paint, leaving subtle marks or altering the finish (e.g., causing a slightly matte or cloudy appearance).
- Wood Absorption: If the door's paint isn't fully sealed or has worn spots, water can seep into the wood beneath. Wood is porous, and even pure water can cause slight swelling or discolouration in unprotected areas, which may appear as stains after drying.
- Environmental Factors: Dust or pollen on the door's surface can mix with the water, leaving faint residues when the water evaporates. Even pure water can pick up microscopic particles from the air or surface, which then dry as visible spots.
- Hard Water Misconception: While hard water (containing minerals like calcium or magnesium) is more likely to leave noticeable white, chalky stains, pure water can still cause marks due to the above factors, though they're usually subtler.
- Dry Immediately: Wipe water off the door promptly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent prolonged exposure.
- Use Sealants: Apply a high-quality sealant or topcoat to the painted door to improve water resistance.
- Clean Regularly: Keep the door free of dust or debris to minimise residue formation.
- Check Paint Quality: Use high-durability, water-resistant paints (e.g., semi-gloss or enamel) for doors exposed to moisture.
